There’s a new release from the iconic whiskey brand Chicken Cock, a limited release celebrating Kentucky bourbon and California wine.

Called Red Stave, the new whiskey is meant to arrive in time for the holidays, and it sets out to tempt whiskey and wine lovers as the Kentucky Straight Bourbon is finished in selected J. Wilkes Petite Sirah barrels from California.

A statement from the whiskey brand notes that this partnership features more than 300 years of combined whiskey and winemaking history.

J. Wilkes Petite Sirah is made by the Miller Family Wine Company, located in the Paso Robles Highlands District of California. The J. Wilkes winemakers take full advantage of the hot days and cool nights high above the Pacific Ocean to harvest these grapes just when they’re bursting with flavor.

The limited-release Chicken Cock whiskey clocks in at 102.4 proof (51.2% ABV), and the distiller noted that the flavor-rich Petite Sirah wine barrels give Red Stave a balanced stone fruit taste profile, as well as a red tint.

The whiskey features a mash bill of 70% corn, 21% rye and 9% malted barley, and comes in a Prohibition-era commemorative tin for holiday gift giving.

“Red Stave is another excellent example of our devoted, continued mission of resurrecting the brand and bringing Chicken Cock Whiskey back to the high-quality reputation it was known for many years ago, beginning in 1856,” said Gregg Snyder, Chicken Cock Whiskey’s master distiller.

Red Stave has a suggested price of $199.99, and is available for retail purchase nationwide and online on Chicken Cock Whiskey’s website.
