The iconic Widow Jane Distillery recently announced the return to store shelves of the brand’s two most popular limited-release bourbons, Decadence and Lucky Thirteen.

Bourbons with extra aging and those finished in exotic barrels are a big part of the most recent growth in the industry. Here, Widow Jane is hitting all those pleasure centers.

Decadence is Widow Jane’s signature bourbon blended in small batches and then finished in the brand’s American oak barrels that held Upstate New York’s Crown Maple artisan maple syrup.

The distiller noted that the maple syrup barrel finish delivers a creamy-smooth and slightly sweet mouthful of whiskey, with a faint maple note.

Decadence debuted in spring 2020, with a second run launched in October of that year and limited runs each year since. The special whiskey is noted for winter warming cocktails like toddies and Old Fashioned riffs.

Widow Jane Decadence clocks in at 45.5% ABV and has a suggested price of $99.99.

Its tasting notes show that on the nose are aromas of sugared pecans, maple, birch beer, charred oak. The palate features vanilla, burnt sugar, and cinnamon and finishes with brown sugar, shortbread, mellow tobacco, and old whiskey.

The other release for this fall, LUCKY THIRTEEN, comes aged 13 years in American oak barrels which are hand-picked, blended and proofed with limestone-rich water from the Rosendale Mines of New York.

Lucky Thirteen was initially released as a private-single-barrel program at a variety of proofs, it’s now available at 93 proof in very small batches. It has a suggested price of $124.99.

On the nose, it features aromas of vanilla bean, Earl Grey tea, caramel, and sweet tobacco. It tastes of pecan pie, whole grain toast, and grapefruit peel while it finishes with nutmeg, birch beer, and dry oak tannin.
