While we’re still celebrating rye whiskey heritage month, we should mention a fantastic rye whiskey that you guys might not know about.

It’s called Great Jones Rye Whiskey, and this bold expression is layered with notes of vanilla, dried orchard fruits, and of course, rye pepper.

The distiller calls it a “spicy love letter to New York’s heartiest grain and a ‘benchmark style’ for Eastern seaboard rye.”

The whiskey itself is made with 100% rye grain and clocks in at 90 proof. The spirit has a light, almost golden honey color to it. On the nose, you’ll find aromas of minerality and wet black dirt.

The whiskey’s palate is rich and peppery, with mineral flavor resembling Highland Scotch. It finishes with a lasting pepper taste.
