As the spirits world celebrates International Whisky Day, there’s a host of different styles and varieties of whisky out there to explore.

Across the Pacific, there’s a brand doing things the Japanese way … FUJI Whisky

The makers at FUJI say their whisky embodies the essence of its surroundings, drawing inspiration from the rich cultural heritage and nature of the region, and offering a multi-layered sensory journey through the slopes of one of the world’s most famous mountains.

Since the initial release of FUJI Whisky’s Single Grain Whiskey in 2021, the brand has expanded in three global styles of grain whiskey. FUJI now has three offerings available in the U.S.

Most recently coming to American shores, FUJI Japanese Whisky that launched in May 2023 and the FUJI 30-Year-Old Single Grain Whiskey, reallocated in the fall of 2023.

As you might’ve known, FUJI Whisky gets its name from Japan’s Mt. Fuji, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a symbol of cultural inspiration.

FUJI’s Master Blender Jota Tanaka and the brand’s distillery, Mt. Fuji Gotemba, are the curators of one of the only whiskies in the world to use the mountain’s snowmelt in its production.

The whisky maker explained that this process takes 50 years for the water to make the 7.5 mile journey from Mt. Fuji’s peak to the depths of the underground aquifer, just below the distillery.

Tanaka called this water a “precious gift from Mt. Fuji,” acknowledging its vital role in crafting the brand’s expressions.
