Smooth Ambler recently announced the return of a legend … Old Scout 7 Bourbon. This expression is a robust, high-proof bourbon aged for seven years.
When John Little, founder of Smooth Ambler, embarked on his quest for exceptional whiskey in 2011, his mission was clear: to bring back the finest spirits to the picturesque hills of West Virginia. And now, after a hiatus, the iconic Old Scout 7 makes its triumphant return.
Smooth Ambler garnered a devoted following of whiskey enthusiasts who admire the distillery’s sourcing and blending. “Transparently sourcing whiskey has always been fundamental to our ethos,” Little said. “The revival of Old Scout 7 is a testament to that commitment.”
Made from a mash bill of 60% corn, 36% rye, and 4% malted barley, Old Scout 7 features bold, sweet, and spicy flavors, thanks to its high rye content.
The liquid shows off copper and gold hues, and has aromas of apple, leather, and cherry pipe tobacco. On the palate, there’s sweetness and spice, culminating in a long, smooth finish.
Available at select liquor stores across various states, including CA, CO, DC, and TX, Old Scout 7 has a retail price of $64.99 per 750mL bottle.
