Still Austin just announced the fifth limited release in their Bottled in Bond seasonal series, Red Corn Bourbon, which was aged five years.

“The additional year of aging in this release has greatly enhanced the tasting experience of the Red Corn Bourbon. We’re proud to be one of the few Texas distillers qualified to release a Bottled in Bond series,” said Mike Spadier, chief marketing officer with Still Austin.

For this Summer 2024 release, represented on the label by the heat-loving snake and cactus, Still Austin combined the robust nuttiness of Jimmy Red corn with the sweet spice of rye. The red corn release was a fan favorite last year, and the distiller noted that it’s even better with an additional year of aging.

It has a mash bill of 36% red corn, 34% white corn, 25% rye, and 5% barley. The 100 proof whiskey is aged at least five years, and will be available for purchase online HERE at Stillaustin.com and in select retail locations later this month. It has a suggested price of $85 per bottle.

The distiller’s tasting notes show that on the nose, the whiskey has aromas of cinnamon, truffle, freshly ground coffee, vanilla cream soda, and charred grapefruit. The palate tastes of candied orange peel, milk chocolate, aged maple syrup, leather, mint leaves, marzipan, and roasted pistachio. It finishes like buttercream frosting, rum raisin ice cream, sarsaparilla, with a hint of freshly ground peppercorns.
