Maison Solís just launched a new fragrance line inspired by agave, the plant behind tequila, thanks to Joseph D. Solís, a big name in the wine and spirits world. This collection is a tribute to Solís’ Mexican Chicano roots and his 25 years in the tequila industry.
The line includes three scents: Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo, each mirroring a different stage of tequila. Solís teamed up with Ethan Turner, an African American sommelier turned perfumer, to craft these unique fragrances, breaking down top tequilas to capture their essence.
Solís explained, “Agave is sacred to me, deeply tied to my heritage and passions. I created these scents to honor this ‘nectar of the Gods’ and reflect its journey from fresh and vibrant Blanco to rich and complex Añejo.”
Here’s a quick rundown of each scent:
- Blanco ($110): Fresh and citrusy, it brings the energy of tequila’s early stage with lime, bergamot, and grapefruit, alongside hints of coconut and cedar.
- Reposado ($120): Warm and spicy, it blends roasted agave with aged whiskey notes, evoking a sunset’s golden hour with blood orange, cinnamon, and caramel.
- Añejo ($140): Bold and sensual, it features deep notes like caramel, vanilla, and smoky oud, reflecting the richness of aged tequila.
Each bottle’s design reflects its tequila counterpart, from the sleek Blanco to the smoky Añejo. There’s also a Discovery Set with 5 ML samples of each fragrance for $60.
Solís’ love for fragrance dates back to his childhood, when scents offered him an escape. “Fragrance was fantasy, aspiration, and hope for me,” he said.
