Hey whiskey lovers! Get ready for something special this fall, as Lost Lantern is stepping into the spotlight with their new 10-Year-Old Single Cask Collection. This Vermont-based independent bottler is challenging the idea that younger whiskeys are the only option from newer American distilleries.
Co-founders Nora Ganley-Roper and Adam Polonski are excited about this release. They believe it highlights the craftsmanship and dedication of distilleries that take the time to age their spirits.
“As more American distilleries reach these milestones, whiskey enthusiasts will discover a richer variety of age statements,” Adam explained. “These whiskies prove that quality comes from intentional craftsmanship, not just tradition. After all, to have a 10-year-old whiskey, a distillery has to make it and then patiently wait a decade.”
Mark your calendars: the Lost Lantern Fall 2024 10-Year Collection hits shelves on Nov. 7th! You can snag these bottles online at LostLanternWhiskey.com and Seelbachs.com, at select retailers in California and Massachusetts, or at the Lost Lantern Tasting Room in Vergennes, VT. Each bottle, priced at $150, is released at natural cask strength, non-chill-filtered, and with no added color.
Let’s take a closer look at what’s in the collection:
- Westland Peated American Single Malt (9.99 Years Old)
Proof: 109.8 (185 bottles)
This Seattle distillery is known for its bold flavors, and this single cask is no exception. Made with heavily peated malted barley, it offers a nose full of savory smoke, scorched apples, and roasted meats, while the palate delivers a delightful marshmallow s’more experience. Fun fact: this was bottled just one day shy of its tenth birthday, making it Westland’s oldest release to date! - Tom’s Foolery Ohio Straight Bourbon (10 Years Old)
Proof: 119.4 (82 bottles)
Hailing from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, this family-run distillery uses traditional methods for its bourbon. Expect a nose of maple-drizzled cornbread and warming oak spices, with flavors of maple, chocolate, and fresh-cut hay on the palate. - Spirit Works California Straight Rye (10 Years Old)
Proof: 139.2 (120 bottles)
Located in Sonoma, this distillery is led by one of the few female distilling teams in the U.S. Their 10-year rye is vibrant, with fresh lemon and spearmint on the nose and powerful oak notes that round out the palate. - New York Distilling Company Straight Rye (10 Years Old)
Proof: 133.9 (125 bottles)
This Brooklyn distillery is a key player in the resurgence of rye whiskey. Their 10-year-old rye features complex flavors, with notes of lemon custard and dark chocolate, balanced with a deep oak presence.
Lost Lantern has built a reputation for seeking out unique and exciting American whiskeys, and this collection showcases that mission perfectly. Having been named Independent Bottler of the Year at the 2023 Global Icons of Whisky Awards, Lost Lantern is truly making its mark.
