As St. Patrick’s Day approaches, whiskey lovers across the U.S. have a reason to raise their glasses … Two Stacks Irish Whiskey is expanding its reach. The renowned whiskey bonder, one of only three remaining in Ireland, has partnered with Foley Family Wines & Spirits to bring its flagship product, Two Stacks The First Cut Signature Blend Irish Whiskey, to more markets nationwide.
Now available in more than 19 states, including New York, Massachusetts, Florida, and Minnesota, Two Stacks is expected to achieve full national distribution by the end of the year.
A Tradition of Blending Excellence
Two Stacks has carved a niche for itself by blending innovation with tradition. The First Cut Signature Blend is a masterful combination of five distinct whiskeys sourced from some of Ireland’s most esteemed distilleries. This blend consists of two single grain whiskeys, a pot still whiskey, exclusive to Ireland, a double-distilled malt whiskey, and a peated malt whiskey, which adds a subtle smokiness rarely found in contemporary Irish whiskey. The transparency of this process is a hallmark of the Two Stacks brand, with each label detailing the exact blend composition and the origins of its distillates.
The composition of The First Cut Signature Blend includes:
- 40% Single Grain Whiskey (aged in former Kentucky Bourbon casks)
- 40% Single Grain Whiskey (aged in virgin American Oak casks)
- 8% Pot Still Whiskey (aged in Oloroso Sherry casks)
- 10% Double-Distilled Malt Whiskey (aged in former Kentucky Bourbon casks)
- 2% Peated Malt Whiskey (aged in former Kentucky Bourbon casks)
Bottled at 86 proof, this meticulous blending process results in a whiskey that delivers layers of complexity, from the green apple and spice of the pot still whiskey to the rich mouthfeel of the double-distilled malt and the lingering warmth of the peated malt.
A Nod to Ireland’s Whiskey Heritage
“Peated whiskey is often associated with Scotch, but it has a deep-rooted history in Irish whiskey production,” says Two Stacks Co-Founder Shane McCarthy. “In the early 1800s, smoky Irish whiskeys were quite common, especially in the northwest, where peat was a readily available fuel source.”
Though only 2% of the final blend, the 4+ year-old peated malt whiskey in The First Cut adds depth, enhancing its long, flavorful finish. Expect notes of melted butter, peach, and black tea on the nose, followed by flavors of seeded bread, toasty oak, butterscotch, and blackberry on the palate. The finish is long and honeyed, with a complexity that sets it apart from other Irish whiskeys.
A Sustainable and Convenient Choice
Two Stacks is also setting industry standards with its commitment to sustainability. The First Cut Signature Blend comes in a 700ml bottle made from 100% recycled glass ($37.99 MSRP), alongside the innovative Dram in a Can … a 100ml recyclable aluminum can designed for on-the-go whiskey enjoyment ($4.99 MSRP). The brand’s embossed bottles use 80% recycled glass, all-natural cork, and recycled plastic seals, reinforcing its environmentally conscious ethos.
