Spirit Hound Distillers, a staple of Colorado’s craft spirits scene, continues to impress with its American Single Malt Whisky, recently earning a Gold medal at The Fifty Best awards. A panel of eight judges sampled 10 different American Single Malts, and Spirit Hound stood out with its complex, layered profile.

Tasters picked up aromas of caramel, nougat, and peanut brittle, followed by flavors of chocolate, black pepper, and oak. The finish was described as “overtly distinctive,” adding an intriguing note to this exceptional whisky.

While American Single Malt Whisky was only recently defined by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau as an official category, Spirit Hound has been at the forefront of this style for more than 13 years.

Their whiskey is crafted entirely from barley grown and malted in Alamosa, Colorado, and a touch of peated malt for a Scottish influence, this whisky ages in new, charred American oak barrels.

The result is a spirit that’s both rich and bold, with Rocky Mountain water used to cut the proof and a single barrel approach that ensures every bottle offers a unique experience.

This recognition adds to an impressive list of accolades for Spirit Hound, including a Gold Medal at the 2024 London Spirits Awards and being named Best Whisky in the World at the London Spirits Competition.

For whisky enthusiasts looking to explore Spirit Hound’s award-winning American Single Malt, it’s available at their tasting rooms in Lyons, their Denver Cocktail Lounge, and online in 40 states.
