The Denver distillery has long been known for bold, terroir-driven spirits, but MOSAIC feels like the culmination of that philosophy. True to its name, it’s a whiskey built from individual “pieces” … eight unique malt barrels, each treated like its own standalone artwork … brought together to create something unified, expressive, and unmistakably Laws.

Eight Barrels, One Vision

MOSAIC is a vertical marriage of eight distinctly different malt barrels, and the distillery really went for it when choosing the components. We’re talking:

• Toasted malt
• Scottish four-row barley grown right in Colorado
• Oak-smoked malt (smoked using Laws’ own barrel staves, how’s that for full-circle?)
• Peat-smoked malt
• Even touches of chocolate and crystal malt

Each barrel aged in its own style of cask, too … everything from classic #3 char new American oak to used San Luis Valley Rye casks, re-barreled Laws brandy barrels, and a French oak Armagnac cask. It’s like a world tour of wood.

And the age breakdown? Also a blend of nuance:

• 44% seven-year-old whiskey
• 18% eight-year-old whiskey
• 38% nine-year-old whiskey

A New Chapter in the ORIGINS Series

If you’re familiar with Laws’ ORIGINS Series, you know it’s where the distillery gets particularly reflective and ambitious. The series began way back in 2011, when Laws marked 28 early barrels with a single word, ORIGINS, essentially labeling the DNA of what the brand would become.

MOSAIC joins some impressive company:

• 2022 – INTENTION, the first vertical marriage of their Four Grain Bourbon
• 2023 – CORNERSTONE, layering youthful San Luis Valley Rye with deep, mature character
• 2024 – SUPER WHEATER, a wheat-forward exploration into Colorado’s grain terroir

Now, 2025 brings MOSAIC, released just after the passage of the American Single Malt Act … a fitting moment to showcase the depth and individuality of American Single Malt whiskey. As with its predecessors, MOSAIC is a statement piece: bold, intricate, and expressive.

Tasting Notes: A Whiskey With Layers to Explore

MOSAIC doesn’t hide its complexity, it leans into it.

Aroma: candied and crisp apple, peanut, smoke, ash, Bit-O-Honey candy, and a whisper of autumn leaves
Palate: lightly medicinal in that classic single-malt way, layered with brown sugar, cocoa, mature oak, and grapefruit peel
Finish: full-bodied, evolving, and delightfully lingering—balanced in a way that invites another sip
