If you’re the kind of drinker who likes your beer with a little swagger, a touch of cocktail class, and a whole lot of character, clear your calendar … Electric Avenue has arrived. The latest from the boundary-pushing Wild Heaven Beer, in partnership with Bulleit Frontier Whiskey, is more than a beer release … it’s a moment.

Tasting what they’re calling a “Bulleit-vardier”, let’s just say this is not your average barrel-aged beauty.

What’s in the Glass? A Trip Down Electric Avenue

Electric Avenue is a Munich Wine, a rarely-seen beer style that takes cues from a Barleywine but dials in on malt richness and body. It’s a smart base for a beer that’s meant to echo a Boulevardier … the cocktail cousin to the Negroni, with whiskey at the helm. But here’s where it gets really interesting: this beer has been aged in Bulleit 95 Rye barrels, and those barrels do serious work.

From the first sip, you’re hit with layers of caramel apple, spicy rye bite, and a zippy burst of bitter orange. The barrel aging doesn’t just add flavor, it unlocks complexity. Those signature Bulleit rye spice notes peek through the malt sweetness like a well-timed solo in the middle of a rock anthem.

The finish is where it really earns its cocktail-inspired badge. Thanks to a careful infusion of gentian root, rhubarb root, angelica, and citrus peels, Electric Avenue lands with a herbal snap and just enough bitterness to balance the richness. It’s as if Campari and sweet vermouth whispered into the brew kettle … and the beer listened.

From Kentucky Inspiration to Atlanta Innovation

According to Wild Heaven Head Brewer Josh Franks, the idea was born on a pilgrimage to the Bulleit distillery in Kentucky, fueled, naturally, by rounds of Boulevardiers. “We wanted to create a beer that drinks like a cocktail but still feels like a beer,” says Franks. “It’s complex but not complicated. It can stand on its own, or you can sip it alongside the cocktail that inspired it.”

Mission accomplished. Electric Avenue captures the soul of a Boulevardier, but with the body, depth, and richness only a well-crafted beer can bring. It’s smooth, strong, and a little sultry—the kind of beer that practically demands a slow pour and good conversation.
