There’s something about the holidays that makes “home” feel even more special … especially when you’ve been serving far from it. For the 15th year in a row, Jack Daniel’s and the Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) are teaming up to make sure more service members get that chance through Operation Ride Home, a program that helps junior-enlisted military members and their families travel home for the holidays.
Since launching in 2011, Operation Ride Home has helped 14,361 people reunite with their loved ones … a number that speaks volumes about the power of community and gratitude. This year, in honor of the program’s 15th anniversary, Jack Daniel’s has kicked things off with a $150,000 donation and an invitation for others to chip in at operationridehome.com
“Everyone deserves to be home with their loved ones to celebrate the joy of this special season,” said Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller Chris Fletcher. And he’s right, because there’s no better gift than being together.
Over the years, more than $3.5 million has been raised through this partnership, helping active-duty service members (E-5 and below) from every branch of the military travel to all 50 states … by plane, car, or however they can get there. The ASYMCA works with local military commands to identify those most in need, ensuring no hero has to spend the holidays alone.
As Vice Admiral William French (USN, Ret.) of the ASYMCA put it, “Thanks to Jack Daniel’s, countless military families will be reunited this holiday season.”
Cheers to that … and to 15 years of turning miles into memories.
