There’s something especially fitting about a bottle of rum bringing people together around stories and service … and that’s what Captain Morgan is doing with its newly relaunched Limited Edition Military Design Bottle.
Timed for Memorial Day and National Military Appreciation Month, the special release is more than just a fresh look for the brand’s classic Original Spiced Rum. This collaboration shines a spotlight on the incredible work being done by the Veteran Art Institute, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering active-duty military members and veterans through artistic expression.
At the center of the project is artist Laura Taylor, a U.S. Navy veteran, Executive Director of the Veteran Art Institute, and daughter of a Vietnam Army veteran. Taylor designed the striking new label artwork, creating imagery that celebrates unity across military branches while honoring the camaraderie shared by those who serve. Her work brings both heart and patriotism to the bottle, turning it into something collectors and supporters alike will want to display long after the rum is gone.
The mission behind the Veteran Art Institute is equally inspiring. Founded by Kathleen Ellertson, whose father was a Bronze Star Army Air Forces veteran, artist, and PTSD survivor, the organization was created to give veterans and service members a creative outlet and a supportive community through the arts. Through its online platform and programming, VAI helps veterans share their stories, showcase their artwork, and connect with others who understand their experiences.
And this collaboration does more than raise awareness. For every bottle sold, $1 will be donated directly to the Veteran Art Institute to help expand arts programming for active-duty military personnel and veterans.
The limited-edition bottle will be available through Military Division channels as well as select markets including New York, Indiana, Kentucky, and Florida for a limited time.
It’s always refreshing to see a spirits brand pair a meaningful cause with a genuinely thoughtful collaboration … and in this case, the artwork, mission, and message all come together beautifully. Whether you’re a longtime Captain Morgan fan, a supporter of veteran organizations, or simply someone who appreciates bottles with a story behind them, this is one release worth raising a glass to.
