Some whiskey is worth the wait. And after 30 years in the barrel, Blade & Bow is ready to make one heck of an entrance. Its new 30-Year-Old Cask Strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon is turning up the heat with a jaw-dropping 164.2 proof, proving that sometimes patience comes with a pretty powerful punch.
The brand recently unveiled Blade & Bow 30-Year-Old Cask Strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, an exceptionally rare release that takes the same remarkable blend introduced in 2025 and presents it in its natural, undiluted form. And when we say undiluted, we mean it. This one clocks in at a staggering 164.2 proof, or 82.1% ABV.
That’s not a typo. This bourbon is packing enough proof to make even seasoned whiskey drinkers pause before reaching for the glass.
First laid down in the spring of 1993, the bourbon spent much of its three decades aging inside the historic rickhouses of Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. Diageo’s Director of American Whiskey Liquid Development, Nicole Austin, selected 42 barrels from an original lot of 96 to create the 30-year-old blend. Most of that whiskey went into last year’s Limited Release, while a portion was set aside at cask strength for this new edition.
The idea is to let whiskey enthusiasts experience the blend in its most concentrated form, with the option of gradually adding water to find their own preferred balance. At this proof, a little water isn’t just acceptable… it might be part of the fun.
A Very Rare Pour
Blade & Bow 30-Year-Old Cask Strength will be limited to just 1,200 bottles, packaged in a custom-made leather box that looks every bit as exclusive as the whiskey inside. The suggested retail price is $2,500, so this is definitely not the bottle you casually grab on the way to a weekend barbecue.
The new expression begins rolling out in select markets in November 2026, with Stitzel-Weller Distillery serving as the first retail destination. A limited allocation will be available by reservation beginning November 16, with pickup later in the month.
There’s also a little good news for those who prefer their bourbon at a slightly more approachable proof. Blade & Bow’s 30-Year-Old Limited Release is making a return, too. Bottled at 109 proof and priced at $1,200, the original expression will be available in limited quantities, beginning with a release at Stitzel-Weller on October 30.
For collectors, having the same 30-year-old blend available in two different expressions is a pretty intriguing opportunity. For the rest of us, it’s another reminder that some of the most fascinating whiskey stories aren’t about what’s new in the barrel, but what has been quietly waiting in one for decades.
Thirty years of patience, 164.2 proof and only 1,200 bottles. Blade & Bow isn’t exactly making this one easy to find, but that’s part of the appeal. Just remember, at $2,500 a bottle, you might want to savor every single drop.
