From coconut and key lime to banana and pumpkin spice, the Kenny Chesney-founded brand is giving rum drinkers plenty of reasons to mix things up
Rum has always been pretty good at having fun. Blue Chair Bay Rum seems to have taken that idea and run with it.
The Kenny Chesney-founded brand has built a lineup that covers everything from easy-drinking white rum to tropical flavored rums and a growing collection of creamy, dessert-friendly bottles. And lately, consumers seem to be paying attention.
Blue Chair Bay Vanilla Rum is up 54.7% in units year over year, while its Lime Rum is up 39.6% over the latest 13 weeks. Even more interesting, rum creams now account for nearly 48% of the brand’s dollars.
That’s a pretty good indication that rum drinkers aren’t necessarily looking for complicated. They’re looking for something that tastes good, doesn’t take a chemistry degree to mix and offers a little variety.
Blue Chair Bay has plenty of that.
There’s the tropical standby, Coconut Rum, which is an easy fit for everything from simple cocktails to punches. White Rum provides the classic versatile base for cocktails, while the flavored lineup takes things in a decidedly more playful direction.
Key Lime Rum Cream brings bright citrus and a creamy finish. Pineapple Rum Cream goes straight for the tropical fruit. Banana Rum Cream offers another creamy, tropical option, and the collection also includes fan favorites such as Mocha Rum Cream.
And now there’s pumpkin.
For fall, Blue Chair Bay has its first-ever seasonal release, Pumpkin Spiced Rum Cream. It’s also the brand’s first new flavor innovation in three years, making this one a little more interesting than simply another bottle showing up on the shelf when the leaves start changing.
Pumpkin Spiced Rum Cream is made with real spice, pumpkin and cream, with flavors of sweet cream, caramel and warm baking spices. The aroma brings cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and a hint of butterscotch, followed by a smooth finish of cinnamon and nutmeg.
At 15% ABV, it’s designed to be pretty easygoing.
And versatile.
Blue Chair Bay suggests pouring it over ice, adding it to coffee or hot chocolate, using it in baking or turning it into a cocktail. In other words, this is less “here’s your complicated fall cocktail recipe” and more “open the bottle and figure out what sounds good.”
That’s part of the appeal of the Blue Chair Bay lineup. The bottles can be used as cocktail ingredients, dessert companions or simply poured over ice when you want something a little different.
The brand is also putting some emphasis on value, with a promotion running through December 31, 2026. Consumers can save $10 when purchasing two eligible 750ml bottles or $20 when purchasing three.
The Pumpkin Spiced Rum Cream is priced at a suggested $19.99 for a 750ml bottle and will be available while supplies last at national retailers and through Blue Chair Bay’s direct-to-consumer site.
For a rum brand that started with a pretty simple idea, bringing a little island spirit home, Blue Chair Bay has developed quite a playground of flavors.
Coconut. Vanilla. Lime. Key Lime. Pineapple. Banana. Mocha. White Rum.
And now pumpkin spice.
It’s a lineup that seems to understand something about today’s drinker. Sometimes you want a beautifully made spirit to sip and contemplate. Other times you just want to pour something delicious over ice, add it to coffee or make a cocktail that puts a smile on your face.
There’s room for both.
And judging by the numbers, plenty of people are pulling up a chair.
